Causes and Diagnosis of Hemorrhoids

Causes and Diagnosis of Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids, or often called piles, are veins that may be swollen or enlarged around the anus or lower rectum. The most prevalent hemorrhoids are either intercanal formed in the lining of the lower rectum and anus; or external, which form under the skin in the anus area. To diagnose hemorrhoids, doctors will look for symptoms such as bloody stools, leaky feces, lumps, swelling, and pain in the anus region.

Hemorrhoids can be diagnosed either by checking the area around the anus (external) or by a digital rectal exam (internally). Known causes or risk factors for hemorrhoids include:

1. Straining during bowel movements
Several different conditions can cause the formation of hemorrhoids. These conditions can exist due to a variety of factors including constipation and diarrhea. There are many ways to help manage straining during bowel movements including relaxing and not rushing the movement, drinking plenty of water along with exercise. Typical treatments are stool softeners or fiber supplements. Immediate relief can be obtained by implementing a hemorrhoids relief cream cure.

2. Sitting for long periods of time on the toilet
Prolonged sitting on the toilet may cause the anus muscles to relax too much, thereby increasing blood flow. Sitting for long periods on the toilet causes blood to pool. This may create an inflammation that can contribute to hemorrhoids. If it takes more than 10 minutes on the toilet, consider adding more fruits, vegetables, and fiber into your diet.

3. Having chronic diarrhea or constipation
Constipation and diarrhea can inflame the anus passing stools. The strain to pass stools while constipated, or too much loose bowel movement in diarrhea, may contribute to an inflamed anus and hemorrhoids. Having chronic diarrhea or constipation may be treated with either probiotics or fiber supplements depending upon the condition.

4. Lifting too heavy objects
One tends to hold their breath when lifting or moving heavy objects. The resultant air held ultimately pushes down towards the rectum. This sudden increase in pressure may cause blood swelling leading to hemorrhoids. Lifting too heavy objects can be mitigated by managing breath control. Practice pushing the breath of air up towards the throat while lifting the heavy objects rather than pushing down with the stress of the object.

5. Excess weight
Blood veins may be enlarged due to carrying excessive weight and lead to pooling of blood in the vein, especially in the anus area. Pregnancy, with the combination of the additional weight of the fetus, very often creates swollen veins in the anus thereby leading to hemorrhoidal conditions. This condition can be treated effectively with hemorrhoids relief cream cures. Excess weight may be managed by being as active as possible during the day, eating a high fiber diet, and drinking plenty of fluids.

In summary, the good news is hemorrhoids can be managed. Immediate pain relief can be obtained with hemorrhoids relief cream cures. Long-term relief may be obtainable with exercise, a high fiber diet, plenty of fluids along proper breathing techniques.
